Extended Learning Opportunities

Bezos Scholars Program FlyerSuccessful Bezos Scholars are passionate, intellectually curious young people who are rising leaders in their schools and communities. They are interested in personal and intellectual growth, practice reflection, demonstrate a strong work ethic and communicate clearly. We favor students who engage with their communities, pursue their passions in substantive ways and are interested in serving others. Competitive applicants show us their commitment to both learning and equity. Standout candidates articulate how our program would help them achieve their personal and professional goals.
Applications are due January 25, 2024. More information can be found at www.bezosscholars.org/lead including school and student eligibility requirements, biographies of previous Scholars, and examples of the incredible student-led projects Scholars have launched to improve their community.

Youth Leadership Columbia County is a program designed to educate through experience and motivate young leaders and enable them to take an active role in their community. This will result in strong leaders who have hope for the future and the tools to influence a positive and progressive community.

Participants must be sophomores or juniors in Columbia County high schools or residents of Columbia County. They are selected after consideration of their recognized and potential leadership and the merit of their application. The Selection Committee strives to achieve a geographical, racial and socio-economic balance in their selections.

The Columbia County Foundation for Children wants to extend an invitation for "Students Helping Students" and encourage students to volunteer with their organization. Students may become involved as individuals, in small groups, or as clubs and organizations.

The Columbia County Foundation for Children has assisted children in our county for over 25 years. Community support and volunteers have enabled our organization to support:

  • The Helping Hands Thrift Store and Resource center (free clothing for eligible families and low cost clothing and household goods) - open to the public
  • Granting individual benevolence requests from school official referrals
  • Supplying schools with hygiene products, underwear, socks and emergency clothing
  • Awarding college scholarships and summer school assistance
  • Coordinating community support and sponsorship for our children's Christmas gift program

Students may visit the website at: www.ccfchildren.org, find them on Facebook, or email at [email protected] for more information on how to get involved. Flexible hours are available for students volunteering at Helping Hands - no experience necessary. Volunteer hours are certified.
